Image compressor

Compress a JPEG, PNG or WebP image to a smaller size in KB, such as 500, 200 or 100 KB, with a before-and-after report. Runs in your browser.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Pick a target size (500, 200 or 100 KB, or your own) or set a quality.
  3. Select Compress image and compare the original and final sizes.
  4. Download the result.

When to use it

Limits

Targets are best effort and are never guaranteed. JPEG and WebP are shrunk by lowering quality; PNG is lossless, so a PNG can only get smaller by reducing its pixel dimensions or switching to JPEG or WebP. Up to 25 MB and 64 megapixels. Metadata such as camera data is not kept.

Privacy and file handling

Processed in your browser with canvas. Your image is not uploaded.

Troubleshooting

If the target is not reached, allow dimension reduction, choose JPEG or WebP, or try a larger target. For exact pixel sizes use the Photo & signature resizer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 100 KB?

Choose the image, select the 100 KB button and compress. The tool lowers quality as little as it can and, if needed, reduces the pixel dimensions. The result is checked, and the page says if 100 KB could not be reached.

Why can’t my PNG reach the target?

PNG is lossless, so quality cannot be lowered. Reduce the dimensions or choose JPEG or WebP.

Is the image uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser.
