Word to PDF (text only)
Turn the text of a .docx file into a simple PDF. Fonts, images, tables and page layout are not kept, so it suits plain documents. Runs in your browser.
How to use this tool
- Read the warning: this converts text only.
- Choose a .docx file.
- Convert, then download the PDF.
- Check the PDF in a viewer.
Before you start
This converter reads the text of a .docx file and writes it into a simple PDF. It does not reproduce fonts, images, tables, headers or the page layout of the original, so it is only suitable for plain documents. For a faithful copy of a formatted document, use the export or save-as-PDF feature in the program you wrote it in.
When to use it
- Making a plain letter or notes shareable as a PDF.
- Producing a quick PDF copy of text-only content.
- Checking the wording of a document before formatting it elsewhere.
Limits
Fonts, images, shapes, headers, footers and page layout are not kept; headings and bold are approximated; tables become rows of text; characters outside Latin letters become “?”. Old .doc files are not supported. Up to 25 MB.
Privacy and file handling
Processed in your browser with pdf-lib (served by this site) and a built-in ZIP reader. Nothing is uploaded.
Troubleshooting
If the file is refused it may be an old .doc, encrypted or damaged. Save it as .docx first.
