Unlock PDF
Remove the opening password from a PDF when you know the password. It does not crack or bypass passwords. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How to use this tool
- Choose the password-protected PDF.
- Enter the password that opens it.
- Select Unlock PDF.
- Download the unlocked copy.
When to use it
- Removing a password from your own document for easier use.
- Preparing a PDF for tools that cannot open protected files.
- Making an unprotected copy of a statement you own.
Limits
Works with standard opening-password protection (AES-128 or RC4). It does not guess or bypass passwords. AES-256 files, files with only printing or copying restrictions, and files with compressed encrypted objects are not supported. Up to 50 MB.
Privacy and file handling
Decryption happens in your browser. The file and the password are not uploaded or stored.
Troubleshooting
“Incorrect password” means the password does not open the file. A message about unsupported protection means this tool cannot read that file’s encryption.
Frequently asked questions
Can this open a PDF whose password I do not know?
No. It only removes protection when you supply the correct password.
Why was my file not supported?
It may use AES-256 or compressed encrypted objects, which this tool cannot read yet.
Can it crack a forgotten password?
No. It only works when you enter the correct password.
Which protections are supported?
Standard RC4 and AES-128 passwords. AES-256 files are not supported yet and the tool says so.
Is the password uploaded?
No. It is used in your browser only.
