Add page numbers to PDF

Number the pages of a PDF with the position, format and starting number you choose. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a PDF.
  2. Pick a format, position, starting number and size.
  3. Optionally leave the first page unnumbered.
  4. Select Add page numbers and download the result.

Before you start

Page numbers are drawn onto each page as text, so the original content is not rearranged. Choose where the number sits, whether it reads as a plain number or as Page n of total, and the number to start from. If your PDF has a cover page, tick the option to skip it. Check the result in your PDF viewer, especially on pages with unusual sizes or margins.

When to use it

Limits

Numbers are added to every page in a plain font; existing page content is not moved. Up to 50 MB and 500 pages. Password-protected PDFs and pages that are already rotated are not supported.

Privacy and file handling

Processed in your browser with pdf-lib. Your PDF is not uploaded.

Troubleshooting

If a page is refused it is probably rotated. Check the result in a viewer, because numbers can overlap content near the page edge.
